Serrara Fontana is the highest town of the island: in fact it goes from the sea to the summit of the Monte Epomeo (789 meters).
It is constituted by two main localities, Serrara and Fontana, and smaller others, among which we remember Sant'Angelo, a village of fishermen with the characteristic white houses: it rises in a bay on the sea,in front of a small island connected to Ischia by a narrow strip of land. The village is characteristic, and offers beautiful sandy beaches and interesting trips. From the center you can reach, through a steep climb, the fumarole, jets of warm air that heat the nearby rocks and ground. Not far, there is thermal complex.
Sant' Angelo is the only part of Serrara Fontana on the sea, but also the inner zone is a lot interesting and evocative: Serrara is the seat of the town hall, is located on the pathway that leads to the top of Monte Epomeo; Fontana is the higher village of the island: from here start a lot of path e, to walk on the Monte Epomeo, where it is possible to visit the Eremo di San Nicola, a particularly silent and lonely place, where you can find peacefulness and tranquillity, and enjoy a breathtaking panorama.
